TERMS OF OFFICE AND MEETINGS Board members are elected to serve four year terms, with term limits of two terms, and represent individual member districts. The board has five current members, but is actually a seven-member board. We currently have vacancies for two open seats, one in District #3 (Vigil, north of Weston, San Pablo Canyon, south part of Wet Canyon) and the other in District #61N (Segundo, north part of Valdez, and Burro Canyon). Interested parties who reside and wish to possibly run for election in these areas should contact the President of the Board or Superintendent of Schools. The 2006-07 Board of Education plans to ask the voters to consider reducing the membership from 7 to 5 members and to go from Director Districts to At-Large members in 2007. State Law requires that these matters can only be considered by the voters in odd-numbered years. Regular board meetings are usually held the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 PM in the school cafeteria. Executive sessions are usually held at 5:00 PM preceding regular board meetings. Special board meetings, retreats and work sessions occur once every month or two. « BACK |
