Credit for Service and Education

The Primero RE-2 School District may accept up to ten (10) years of documented and acceptable prior teaching experience of new hires, not including student teaching. For example, a teacher with ten years of teaching experience shall be placed on Step 11, Level 10 of the salary schedule, provided he/she has at least a Bachelor's degree plus 20 semester hours of additional coursework. The "step" is the current year of teaching. "Level" is the years of teaching completed.

Additional credit may be given for undergraduate or graduate hours, subject to approval by the administration and verification of official transcripts. Additional hours shall be earned in the field of teaching assignment or in education. If in education in general, these courses must be pre-approved by the administration for advancement.

For current employees, the District will only give advancement on the salary schedule for courses in which the teacher earned an A or B. For initial placement on the salary schedule, the District will give credit to new employees only for courses in which the new teacher earned an A, B or C.

For inclusion in the following year's salary payments, semester hours and proper documentation must be submitted to the administration by September 1.

Employee Benefits

  1. Employees may join the group health/dental/prescription/life insurance plan for $1.00 per month for single coverage, if desired. New hires hired 2007-2008 and after may elect to purchase family insurance at the cost of the rate above the single coverage, however, the District will provide only single insurance. Current employees hired before 2007-2008 are grand-fathered in at the current family insurance percentage rates.

  2. Employees who do not enroll in the group health/dental/prescription/life plan will receive an additional $30.00 per month in their pay, and the District will purchase $25,000 of term life insurance for that employee.

  3. School housing is available to employees on a first-come, first-served basis. The District owns 6 houses (one 1-bedroom, three 2-bedrooms, and two 3-bedroom houses).

  4. School housing rental rates: 1 bedroom house: $34/month (rent $1, water $23, trash $10); 2 bedroom house: $123/month (rent $90, water $23, trash $10, plus propane and electricity); 3 bedroom house: $183/month (rent $150, water $23, trash $10, plus propane and electricity)

  5. A $200.00 damage deposit is required before moving into dwelling. Deposit to be refunded upon passing inspection.

  6. Teachers will be allowed to move across the salary schedule (advancing lanes) on contract date only, upon transcript verfication by September 1.

  7. Certified staff driving regular bus routes will be paid the same as classified bus drivers.

  8. Overnight bus trips will be compensated at a maximum of 15 hours per day.

  9. The District pays required employer contributions to the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) in lieu of Social Security.
