AUGUST 2006 PRIMERO RE-2 NEWS
Thursday, August 31, 2006: Back to School Night will be held at school from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. The Accountability Committee will serve a hotdog and salad supper. Please join us for introductions at 6:00, dinner at 6:15, and visits to classrooms at 6:50! The Primero Girls Volleyball team plays its first home game this evening against Hoehne at 4:00 PM. Thank you to Ringo's in Segundo for donating the hotdog buns!
Wednesday, August 23, 2006: The South Central BOCES will host Child Find 2006 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the school. Child Find is a free, community service provided by SCBOCES. Child Find provides a free developmental screening of children in grades K-12, including vision, hearing, speech and language, problem-solving skills, personal/social skills, and large/small muscle coordination. If you have questions about your child's development in these areas, please call 719-647-0023, ask for the Child Find Coordinator, and schedule an appointment.
Monday, August 21, 2006: Classes begin for the First Semester of the 2006-07 for all students at 8:00 AM. Welcome back!
Thursday, August 17, 2006: Student Registration for 2006-07, 3:00 - 6:00 PM at the school. All current and new students are requested to register for classes. The District hired two new teachers to replace late resignations in English and Math: Andrea Jimenez will teach half of our math schedule (the other half will be shared by three other Primero staff, Eric Davies, Tammy Valdez, and Kristen Trujillo.) Meghan Holdershaw has been offered the Middle School English position.
Wednesday, August 16, 2006: All Primero Staff return for orientation beginning with a breakfast served by the Senior Class at 8:00 AM. ACT Scores are released today for 2006.
Monday, August 14 - Tuesday, August 15, 2006: New Teachers and Mentors will be working at school starting at 8:00 AM each day. We have four new teachers: Brenda Maes, Social Studies; Cheri Lovett, Middle School English; Rich Michelson, Secondary Math; Gerri Salazar, Art; and a vacant third grade position, yet to be filled. Our mentors are Shirley Duran, Charin Daugherty, Kristen Trujillo, Linda Espinoza, and Roxann Fernandez.
Tuesday, August 15, 2006: The Primero Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. A work session will be held at 5:00 PM and executive session at 5:45 PM.
Monday, August 14, 2006: The School Acccountability Committee will meet at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria.
Thursday, August 10 - Sunday, August 13: The building will be closed for cleaning and waxing of the hallways, the final preparations for the 2006-07 school year! The office will be open Thurdsay, August 10.

August 2, 2006: Primero's CSAP Scores for 2005-06 have been released! We are very pleased with the overall growth of our students and the dedicated work of our staff. The Excel file available at this link contains summary comparison data between 2004-05 and 2005-06. Overall, the numbers of students who were advanced or proficient in reading, writing and math increased and the numbers of students partially proficient or unsatisfactory decreased. Secondary writing and math scores are an area for needed improvement. We will not be satisfied, however, until every child is at least proficient in all categories. |
