July 29, 2008: CSAP 2008 SCORES RELEASED FOR PRIMERO AND STATE OF COLORADO
Colorado assesses students in public schools in Grades 3-10 each year in February (Grade 3 Reading) and March (all other subjects and grades). Students are tested in reading, writing, mathematics and science (grades 5, 8 and 10 only). Students score Unsatisfactory, Partially Proficient, Proficient and Advanced on the tests. Primero's scores are stabilizing except for math, which continues to see a decline. Primero's teachers and administration have designed a 5 year intensive improvement plan for math.

What does this chart tell us factually?
1. The total number of students tested (denominator) from 2006-2008 has increased by 1 student from 2006-2007 and by 13 students from 2006-2008.
2. The numerators (top numbers [Ns]) for Reading, Writing and Science are fairly stable. A similar number of students are scoring Proficient or Advanced for each of the past three years.
3. The denominator (bottom numbers [Ns]) for all groups has increased each year. There are more students scoring Not Proficient (Partially Proficient or Unsatisfactory) in 2008 than there were in 2006 or 2007. Our enrollment has increased in grades 3-10.
4. Reading and Writing scores and percentages for PA are fairly stable.
5. Mathematics has seen the largest decline of PA.
6. Science has seen a decline in PA.
7. Students who are with us over time tend to perform about the same (no huge increases or declines).
