Student Immunization Information

Colorado law requires all students attending Colorado schools and licensed child cares to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless a medical or non-medical exemption is filed. Beginning July 1, 2016 the Colorado Board of Health has mandated new immunization laws for all students attending public education centers for those students 12 months to 18 years of age. The State Board of Health has granted schools the authority to require parents of said children to maintain immunization shot updates on several public health issues, including many diseases that have long been managed through the immunization process. Primero School will require these records be updated to meet the language of this law and to that effect, we are posting files containing information to help the parents of our children comply with this law. Links to the announcement of the ruling, justification of the process going forward, and instructions for how parents can be exempted from this ruling are attached. A file containing copies of the forms used to notify and record student immunization is also included.

Additionally, for those parents wishing to seek a religious, medical, or non-medical exemption for your children, a link on how to access the Colorado State Government office that provides this information is attached. Colorado Revised Statute 25-4-2403 states that any parent or guardian may choose to refuse immunization for their children based on religious, medical or personal beliefs, through a doctor’s signed form or parental statement.

In Summary: ALL students wishing to attend Primero School for the 2018-2019 school year need to have their children’s immunization records updated and filled out or be exempted from immunization through certification or parental statement to that effect. Dear Parent/Staff/Community Members,

In 1986, the Asbestos Emergency Hazardous Response Act (AHERA) was signed into law requiring all public and non-profit private schools (K-12) to inspect for the presence of Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM). Primero Re-2 School District completed the initial inspection required by State and Federal law and continues to monitor the status of any materials. A copy of the original inspection , subsequent re-inspections, and a Management Plan devised to keep in compliance with applicable regulations can be viewed at the main office of the school. Copies of the reports and plans are available for a nominal charge.
